planet a (2022)
74min, English/Korean/Japanese with English/spanish subtitles
Planet A is a metaphor for human arrogance, in which we destroy nature and other beings, justify our behaviour as “development”, evaluate ourselves as “good” (A), and are flattered to be on top of the Earth.
Planet A is an experimental musical documentary project—a collective artwork by 35 musicians and 15 performers/artists—presented as an omnibus of 15 music videos. It was created with the goal of challenging the status quo and revealing the truth behind what is happening on this “fantastic” planet right now, while also fighting against all forms of hierarchical violence and discrimination.
During the filmmaking process, the compilation album [Planet A: Original Soundtrack] was released by Korea-based musicians who empathise with current global issues such as animal massacres, objectification of female body, capitalism, the climate crisis, and more.
*This film has been screened at over 80 venues around the world, accompanied by a Q&A with the director.

Black Illusion (2020)
42min, Korean with Korean/English subtitles
Following the trail of the black pig, unwelcome by anyone…
Visiting Jeju Island and eating black pork has become something of a ritual, deeply embedded in Korean culture. In addition to attracting tourists, the demand for black pork continues to grow each day. But where, exactly, does all that flesh come from? What impact does the public’s daily consumption of animals have on Jeju’s environment and the lives of its residents?
Through a perilous journey to encounter living black pigs, the director questions the everyday routines we’ve come to take for granted. The film invites us to reflect on fundamental solutions to the persistent issues facing “Pristine Jeju” – its environmental rights, foot-and-mouth disease, epidemics, and mass culling.

Bluebird Wandering School (2019)
69min, Korean/English with Korean-English, Chinese subtitles
Min, instead of entering high school, sets off to Europe to visit his free-spirited sibling, who has been wandering the world for several years. There, he enrols in an “experimental alternative school” that aims to move away from authoritarian, oppressive education and instead teach how to live autonomous, self-directed lives.
What he encounters, however, is entirely different from what he imagined. Rather than learning complex theories or formulas, he picks up life skills such as cooking, washing dishes, swimming, and lighting fires, through hands-on experience with the people around him.
This survival road movie follows the first half of Min’s six-month hitchhiking journey through Germany, Palestine, Poland, Denmark, Iceland, and Canada.
*The director does not agree with significant aspects of this film, such as the scenes filmed in occupied Palestine without expressing clear solidarity, and the framing of veganism as the sole solution to animal massacre. For an update on his current views, please refer to his latest speech at the Conference for Animal Liberation in Copenhagen(video coming soon).
